ベンジャミン・アレクサンダー・ヒューズビー（1978年ノルウェー生まれ）
チェルシー・カレッジ・オブ・アート（ロンドン）、ナショナル・アカデミー・オブ・アート（オスロ）で学ぶ。エソテリックサイエンス（秘儀的科学）、博物学、カウンターカルチャーを主題とした写真やインスタレーションを制作する。
KunstWerke（ベルリン）、Fotogalleriet（オスロ）、モメンタム,ノルディック・アート・ビエンナーレ、ホワイトチャペルギャラリー、フォトグラファーズギャラリー（ロンドン）他多くの場所で作品を発表。また彼の写真作品はi-D、アナザー・マガジン、ヴォーグ、デイズド・アンド・コンフューズド、 Butt、アートレビュー、V、ヴォーグ・オム・ジャパン、ファンタスティック・マン、ザ・ジェントルウーマン等の雑誌にも掲載された。ベルリン在住。

「Weeds and What They Tell Us（雑草が教えてくれること）」は、ビューズビーのスタジオ1000メートル圏内に生えている雑草を摘んで写真を撮ったシリーズ。
このプロジェクトは、生物力学農法の先駆者E・ファイファーと、ロンドン南西部にあるキュー王立植物園で1943～53年まで園長を務めたE・J・サリスバリーの著書を研究してアイデアを得た。
サリスバリーは著書のなかで戦後のロンドン市内で爆撃を受けた地帯からいかにして雑草が生えてくるかを報告した。
また著者の二人とも、地球にやさしい環境システムを形成するために雑草が不可欠であると説き、時代を先取りしていた。
「雑草」は科学用語でもなく、一般には生えて欲しくない場所に生えてくる植物として認識されている。しかし、雑草自体には食物としての価値はないものの、将来のために土を肥やし、栄養分を高めるという大切な役割を担っている。言ってみれば、雑草は不毛な土地を肥沃にする ― あるいは爆撃地を庭に変える力を持った植物なのである。
ヒューズビーは作品のなかでこれらの雑草、そして雑草が目に入らないどころか、根絶させようとさえする我々の姿を見つめ、広い意味で人間の無知さを表現した。
雑草の成長段階と分布は常に変化し続ける季節と都市計画のために有機的組織を形成する。
彼は博物学、食品製造に対する興味と、写真が持つ正式な意味での色や構図の使い方とを合併させ、いまだかつてなかった結晶のような作品を作りあげた。wir kinder vom Ueno zoo http://www.uenozoo.de/
